How To Make Your Own DIY Flaxseed Hair Mask or Gel

To Start You will Need:

  • 1/4 Cup of Flaxseed (Short hair) OR 1 cup (Long Hair)
  • 2 1/2 Cups of Water
  • *Essential Oils (Optional)
Directions:
Pour flaxseeds into your pot with 2.5 cups of water.
Bring to boil on medium heat for about 7-10 minutes, stirring often to ensure the flaxseeds don’t stick to the bottom of the pot.
  • You’ll want the texture of the flaxseed gel to be consistent with egg whites. Not too thick, not too runny. If too thick, had half cup of water and stir through until it's not too thick again.
CAUTION: Remember to let everything cool before straining!

Remove from stove and allow the gel to cool for at least 20-30 mins or until cool enough to touch. During this time, the gel will thicken.

Next, open your straining bag and set into a bowl, then pour the mixture into it. Squeeze the gel out of the bag and into the bowl.

*Optional - Now you can add a few drops of your essential oil to your mixture, mix well. Pour your gel into the squeeze bottle and store in the refrigerator.
  • Gel will keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.

How To Use: As a Mask
Apply gel to your whole head and massage through to the ends using the squeeze bottle. Leave in for 1 -2 hours as a mask and wash out as you would normally with shampoo & conditioner.

As a styling gel
Apply a small amount to your palm and smooth into hair as a hair gel to set hair.
